Advising

ADVISING Information

Advising is a partnership. We are here to assist you. You gain more from your advising partnership when you prepare for your appointment. Follow the instructions below:

  • Check your degree completion progress in Degree Works. This includes major/minor and General Education requirements. Make note of any discrepancies that you see. NOTE: Degree Works does NOT audit INTL majors and HGHR/INTL minors well. Use your major/minor advising sheets and your transcripts to track your progress toward graduation. After the deadline for graduation applications has passed for the semester in which you plan to graduate, Degree Works will be updated by the department’s Undergraduate Coordinator.
  • Find your overall earned credit hours on your Unofficial Transcript or Advising Transcript in Banner Self-Service. You must earn at least 120 credit hours to graduate from UNC Charlotte. (This includes major/minor and General Education requirements.) Transfer students must earn at least 30 credit hours here at UNC Charlotte, in addition to their transfer credits, to graduate from UNC Charlotte. No exception will be made to either of these rules.
  • Have a list of courses that you plan to take next semester, even if you aren’t quite sure what courses you should take. It’s better to have something than nothing.
  • Jot down any questions that you have and bring them to your appointment.

INTERNATIONAL STUDIES MAJORS: IF YOU PLAN TO GRADUATE FALL 2024, YOU MUST BE ADVISED BEFORE YOU CAN BE ISSUED A PERMIT TO REGISTER FOR THE SENIOR SEMINAR COURSE (INTL4601).
Appointments will be open a few weeks at a time. As those appointments fill, additional times will be made available.
